WASATCH COLLECT — ANDROID PRIVACY POLICY
Effective October 22, 2026
Who provides this app
Wasatch eDiscovery LLC provides Wasatch Collect for authorized evidence collection. Contact: erich@wasatchediscovery.com; +1 (801) 203-0204. Business address: 175 E 1985 S, Heber City, UT 84032-3920, United States.
Your collection and authorization
A case operator creates a collection and gives you a connection code. Before collection, the app shows the selected sources and asks for your authorization and the Android permissions needed for those sources. The app collects and uploads selected, accessible data for preservation, evidence review, and the operator's stated matter. Ask your case operator about the purpose, scope, recipients, and authority for your particular collection. Android permissions and your authorization do not give an operator authority to collect someone else's data without appropriate permission.
Data we handle
Depending on the selected sources and permissions, collection can include contacts and their details; calendar events; call history; SMS/MMS messages and accessible attachments; photos, videos, audio, and associated file metadata; files you select or accessible shared files; and names, package identifiers, versions, and installation details of installed apps in the current Android profile. Files and exports can contain sensitive personal information about you and other people.
When selected for your collection, you can provide chat exports, shared app files, or an accessible WhatsApp backup folder. A WhatsApp backup encryption key you choose to provide is protected separately on the phone and sent separately to the service for authorized processing. Do not provide your phone passcode, Google password, or another unrelated credential.
The app also handles collection/case labels and identifiers, a generated installation authentication key/public identifier, device manufacturer/model and Android/build versions, consent and permission records, source counts, filenames, sizes, timestamps, hashes, transfer progress, storage/battery information, and error/support reports. Network providers and the service process IP addresses and request metadata when handling and securing connections. The app does not request location permission or run continuous location tracking. Selected content may itself contain location information.
How data is used and disclosed
Collected content and associated records are delivered to Wasatch Collect's service and made available to the authorized case operator and people the operator authorizes. Depending on your matter, these may include a law firm, employer, examiner, client, or other authorized recipient. They may download, process, export, or retain copies under their own responsibilities. Operational records help authenticate the app, enforce collection scope, resume delivery, report gaps, verify integrity, support users, and protect the service. Wasatch may also use or disclose information to meet applicable legal requirements or protect rights and security.
Hosting, network, and security service providers process information to operate the service. Cloudflare provides network/security proxy services and can process content while forwarding HTTPS traffic. Processing can occur where these providers operate. This app contains no advertising or behavioral-analytics SDK, and Wasatch does not sell collection data or use it for advertising or marketing profiling.
Security and local copies
Transfers use HTTPS. Android Keystore protects the app's authentication seed and separately stored WhatsApp backup key. The Android collector's evidence packages are ordinary ZIP files; they do not have independent package encryption. Device and server access controls protect storage, and downloaded copies require protection by their recipients. HTTPS delivery uses trusted network intermediaries; it is not a promise of end-to-end encryption. No system can guarantee absolute security or secure erasure.
Retention and deletion requests
Collection data is retained until the responsible case operator authorizes deletion, subject to legal holds, contractual duties, and applicable law. A completed upload does not automatically remove captured files from your phone. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes its private local state and can prevent unfinished delivery. Files you save elsewhere and copies already held by the service, operators, recipients, or infrastructure backups are separate and are not removed by uninstalling. Backup copies follow the applicable backup lifecycle and authorized retention requirements.
To request access, correction, deletion, or help identifying the responsible operator, contact erich@wasatchediscovery.com with your collection reference if available. Do not email evidence files or encryption keys with your request. We may need to verify your identity and coordinate with the responsible operator; legal preservation duties can limit deletion. We do not promise immediate deletion or a fixed deletion period where preservation obligations apply.
Your choices
You can decline to authorize collection, deny or revoke permissions in Android settings, provide only files you choose when that collection mode is offered, and pause an active collection. Denied access is recorded as a collection gap. Pausing or withdrawing permission does not retract content already captured or delivered; contact the operator and Wasatch for retention or deletion requests. This Android app does not provide user account registration; its connection code authorizes a particular collection. Operator web accounts are managed through the separate web service.
Audience and changes
The app is intended for adult participants in professionally managed collections and is not directed to children under 13. Questions about data concerning a child should be directed to the responsible operator and the privacy contact above. We will publish changes to this policy with an updated effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.
